2003 & 2005: Restoring Funding for EPA's Office of Environmental Education
Beginning in 2002, the Bush Administration each year has removed funding for
the EPA's Office of Environmental Education from its federal budget proposals
for FY 2003, FY 2004, FY 2005, and FY 2006. In response to widespread state and
local support for the program's continuance, Congress reinstated its funding in
FY 2003, FY 2004, FY 2005, and 2006.
These successes would not have become a reality without the support of EE
champions in Congress. Over the years, this support has taken the shape of
several "Dear Colleague" letters requesting restoration of funding for the OEE,
including:
