The National Environmental Education Act of 1990

As Public Law 101-619, the National Environmental Education Act of 1990 mandated that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) make environmental education a priority by administering various activities, including reestablishment of the EPA?s Office of Environmental Education (OEE).

By sponsoring this legislation, Senator Quentin N. Burdick (D-ND) and Representative George Miller (D-CA) became responsible for one of the most significant pieces of EE legislation to date. The EE field applauds their work, as well as that of the many co-sponsors whose support moved this legislation to outstanding levels of bipartisanship.
